Helen was made aware of Here4horses from a friend who volunteers for the charity. She was asked at this very late stage if she would/could run for us in this year's Great North Run (GNR). The charity sadly had a spare place and would lose money without a runner, so the pressure was on to find a replacement.
This wonderful lady was fit and willing, so we are all so very grateful and super excited to welcome her to the utter madness that is Here4horses!
As volunteers, we give our time freely and are constantly fundraising and finding ways to raise funds to secure the charity on a firmer footing. Like many smaller charities, it is really tough at the moment and literally every penny counts.
As GNR participants for a charity, people like Helen devote their time to training (often long hours on their own) and fundraising, and whilst it is such a magnificent personal achievement for them, their actions also benefit charities like ours. GNR day is a huge earner for our small charity and literally helps keeps us afloat. Please donate as generously as you can, as sadly keeping and rehabilitating horses is very costly.
Any donation, no matter the size helps us remain Here4horses for the likes of the week old foal rescued only this week (July). You can follow his story on our Facebook page and website.
