Over the May and the half term holiday the Friends of St Annes would like to give children the opportunity to “Grow a Pound” to raise money for the school. This fundraiser supports the school’s fundraising goals and is also a great way for children to develop their creative entrepreneurial flair!
Each child will be given £1 and asked to “grow” it by investing it in an activity that could make a profit. Children will have from 5th May, the May half term and up to the 5th June to raise as much money as they can. Children can either do this on their own or group up with friends/ siblings so they have more money to start with.
Possible ideas include:
● Use the £1 to buy ingredients to bake cakes which can be sold to family, friends or even parents’ work colleagues,
● Siblings/ friends get together and put on a Spring show/ concert and charge admission – the £1 can be used to buy a fun pen to write out admission tickets,
● Do chores around the house for family members, for example sweeping up leaves in the garden or washing cars (Halfords sell car sponges from 50p),
● Have a movie night at your house over the school holidays and sell tickets/ popcorn (popcorn kernels for sale at Tesco for 99p),
● make a fun game to play at the event
● Guess the name of the charity shop teddy
● Guess how many sweets in a jar game
● Create and sell crafts to friends, family and neighbours (Pinterest has loads of great ideas using free natural materials and Home Bargains or Poundland have a great selection of art items).
We will be holding a Market on the 5th June from 3:30pm to 4.30 in St Annes Church Hall for children to sell what they have made or set up an activity/game.
Parents/carers will need to assist their child in bringing along their goods and setting up. The market will be open to all families at the school so please bring along some money to support the children.
