Kevin’s good friend is a volunteer driving member of an NGO to help rural schools in the Monze District, Zambia. Kevin’s friend is now in Scotland told Kevin "there was drought in Zambia this February causing a failed maize harvest." In June a Friends of Monze volunteer met village farmers who harvested nothing; the grain bins were empty. The only food is wild root which are poisonous until they have been boiled 3 times, these roots will soon run out.
The Zambian Government is providing schools with ears of maize, however, not enough to last the whole term. Teachers told Friends of Monze volunteers about children who have not eaten for 2 days, walked to school but were too drowsy to learn, so had to walk home without food.
Kevin was so moved he completed a strenuous 20 mile walk from Finnieston Crane to Strathclyde Loch as a fundraiser to feed hungry school children. The new school term starts in September, please keep donating as more money will mean more children fed, happy and able to concentate on lessons,
All money raised will go to Monze.
Imagine hungry children in remote rural schools being happy and lively because you cared enough to donate!
