Dementia Action Week calls on everyone to show that we care about Care and asks the Government to fix our broken social care system.
NHS England estimates that 62% of people aged over 65 will have a diagnosis of Dementia. In England alone, nearly 2,000 people per month are diagnosed with Dementia. Creative and fun activities play a key part in decreasing social isolation, stimulating cognition, encouraging independence and increasing mobility and motor skills.
Our friends over at Bike Hive, a small charity specialising in accessible cycling, have done a fantastic job raising money for adapted and passenger bikes in Alexandra Park. We know our members would love the opportunity to ride around Alexandra Park on their own bike, or be carried around for a trip on a passenger bike. We all know how much being out and about in green spaces boosts the wellbeing of people living with Dementia and the bikes will unlock a whole new activity for our members and others.
We need £3,000 to order the bikes. Can you help us to help Bike Hive?
