5K Wolf Run in aid of ADAPT prembabies

Story

The Centre Management team from Beaumont Shopping centre will be taking part in a 5k wolf run on Sunday 13th September to raise funds for their nominated charity 'ADAPT prembabies' 


ADAPT Prembabies is a small local charity that supports parents and families with premature and poorly babies on the neonatal units at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital. 


We also provide ongoing care after families have gone home. Having a premature or poorly baby can happen to anyone and because everything occurs so quickly and usually unexpectedly, it can leave you feeling upset, confused, scared and very vulnerable. 


ADAPT support steps in to help parents cope with the rollercoaster of emotions. Once babies are well enough to go home, we don’t want our support just to stop so run a number of In-B-Tweenie groups where parents can meet up with other parents to share experiences and emotions, these groups are a lifeline to many parents whose baby may have special needs or go home on oxygen or feeding tubes or just for parents to speak to others who have been on the same or similar neonatal journey.'

There is no disputing the fact that the babies get the best clinical care but for the parents its a different story not knowing from day to day sometimes hour to hour whether their baby will survive, this is where the ADAPT support steps in to help them through the rollercoaster journey at one of the most emotional and traumatic times of their lives.
