This squirrel, named Woodpecker due to a mix-up at a precious vet's, has had to have a part of his leg amputated - he managed to get his foot and ankle caught in something and, as he struggled to get out, damaged his leg beyond repair.
Captive squirrels cope very well on three legs, so we are hoping for a speedy recovery, but surgery performed by a wildlife specialist comes at a price. £510, to be more exact.
We are very happy with the result (the vet stitched the wound very carefully, so that no bits of suture are left hanging out and waiting to be pulled or chewed), and, by the look on his face, so is Woodpecker the Squirrel.
Any help towards the cost of this specialist surgery would be greatly appreciated!
