Ever wondered what it takes to be a presenter on Thornbury Radio? Well, now is your chance to find out and get involved!
We are holding a Presentation Academy at 11am on Sunday 11th of January 2026 at Turnberrie's Community Centre. No experience is required and the good news: it’s totally free to attend. Everyone is invited to attend; please note if you are 17 or under you must be accompanied by an adult guardian for the event and if you go on to volunteer with Thornbury Radio.
You can learn how a radio show is put together, how you prepare to present a show on Thornbury Radio and how you compose the links between songs - the talky bits that enable you to connect to the listener.
You’ll also learn how to do interviews as well as compiling and reading the local news.
We’ll talk about podcasting, the importance of social media and how you can get involved in our outside broadcasts.
It’s hosted by Paris Troy from GWR and Radio Bristol and our Thornbury Radio breakfast show presenter Chris Criddle.
It’s not just presentation you’ll learn about, there’s lots of other roles we need help with, including finance, looking after all our broadcast equipment in a technical role and general admin.
