1948: Creation & Catastrophe tells the story of the creation of Israel as seen through the eyes of the people of who lived through its violent birth. It's not possible to make sense of the experience of the Palestinian people without an understanding of the events of 1948.

Made in 2017, this documentary was the last chance for many of its participants to narrate their first-hand accounts of the creation of a state and the expulsion of a nation. The film features interviews with Ilan Pappé, Avi Shlaim and Benny Morris.

Directors: Andy Trimlett and Ahlam Muhtaseb.

To mark Nakba Day, 2021, Highland Palestine Film Club and the Network of Photographers for Palestine have commissioned a special screening of the film 1948: Creation & Catastrophe.

The film will be available online for five days from Tuesday the 11th to Saturday 15th May.
