HELP PROTECT RED SQUIRRELS AND THE WOODLANDS THEY RELY ON IN SOUTHERN SCOTLAND
Red Squirrels are one of our most cherished native species, but are no longer a familiar sight across much of the UK. Once widespread, they are now largely confined to Scotland, northern England and a number of remnant strongholds. In the landscapes where they still survive, including parts of southern Scotland and northern England, their future depends on practical action, local knowledge and sustained conservation support. Scotland holds 80% of the UK's remaining Red Squirrel population, which is why Restoring Upland Nature needs your help to protect them.
By donating to our Red Squirrel work, you can help protect a species that still carries a powerful place in our natural and cultural imagination. Your support will help practical conservation, monitoring, awareness raising, support to your local Red Squirrel Groups and local action on the ground, ensuring that Red Squirrels continue to have a future in the woodlands and upland landscapes where they belong.
This work is about more than one species. Healthy woodlands and upland habitats support birds, mammals, amphibians, insects, plants and people. By helping Red Squirrels, you are also helping to keep local landscapes richer, more connected and more alive.
Your Gift will help us support the people and places working to give Red Squirrels a stronger future.
