Watching my big brother commit to his own fitness journey, following life threatening surgery in October last year, made me think about my own ageing journey.
6 years ago together with my friend Emma Livingstone, who lives with Cerebral Palsy we co-founded UP-The Adult Cerebral Palsy Movement. Together we have spoken to many members of the CP community living with it as well as researchers, medics, policymakers who want to understand how to live well and age well. We explored the problems and now thing we have some good solutions as to how people can live their best lives with CP.
As a physiotherapist I feel more empowered to help support my clients but realise ld I needed to focus on my own journey so that I too could age well. That is why I have finally decided to commit to a Triathalon- I’ve been talking about it for 25 years! I’ve even convinced my brother to let me join him in his jogs in the park.
I am raising money for UP so we can all continue to learn how to live and age well regardless of what physical or mental health challenges we may experience.
On Sunday 7th July I am going to take part in my first Triathlon. Donations are open and I appreciate whatever support you can give. I’ll get back to my training now! Miriam xxx
