Tribute
Marilyn was an extraordinary woman whose warmth, wisdom and boundless enthusiasm touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Her beloved husband David, daughters Charlotte and Jemma, and treasured grandchildren were her world. Her pride in them shone through every story, photograph and conversation. She brought that same love and encouragement into her second family at Wellbeing in Action.
Marilyn believed passionately in people, in kindness, and in the power of creativity to build confidence, friendship and joy.
She adored River End and was enthralled by our plans for the sewing, design, art and bridal studios in Queen Street. Her imagination was already alive with projects she hoped to lead and opportunities she could create for others.
At her family's request, memorial donations will help establish our new Sewing and Design Studio and deliver its first creative workshops, bringing Marilyn's ideas to life.
What better way to honour a woman who was always making things happen than to create opportunities for others to flourish? Her kindness will live on in every friendship made, every skill learned and every life encouraged through her legacy.
If we can, we do. And Marilyn always did.
Favourite memory
Some people leave footprints on our hearts. Others roll up their sleeves, put the kettle on, find a notebook and start making wonderful things happen. Marilyn did both. Whether herding volunteers, lovingly arranging 500 babygrows or reassuring a Chief Executive on the brink of meltdown, Marilyn made everything seem possible. She wrapped us all in a cocoon of kindness, wisdom and encouragement, yet somehow made sure we got on with the job! How very much we will miss her.
