Our primary mission is to fight holiday hunger.
We are a not-for-profit, community based group. Across the UK, almost a third of children live in poverty, usually with one or both parents in work who nevertheless struggle to feed their children and pay their bills. Children who are hungry cannot learn and develop properly, so childhood hunger limits their lifetime opportunities.
We work with schools in the Torbay area, providing "meal kits" to schools, who distribute them to the families they identify as needing help. We also provide breakfast bars and juice boxes to the schools, for teachers to distribute to children who are hungry in class. Our meal kits include economical non-perishable ingredients and a written recipe card of instructions for preparing a meal either on a hob/hotplate or in a microwave oven. To help and encourage families to produce economical meals, the ingredients and their prices are listed.
