“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”
We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
We have been open for 9 years and have supported 21,500 people through our main foodbank service and support 15-20 families a week through our Everyday Food Project. We are really proud of the difference we and our volunteers can make in the lives of those we support.
Donations like yours help us to cover the costs of running all our sessions, including paying for lighting and heating, stationary and printing costs, making sure donations of food can be stored securely, topping up items we run short of or providing specialist items for families that need them.
Our recent Virtual London Marathon fundraiser has helped top up our emergency fund, which helps us to provide families we support with non food items. In the past we've helped with travel costs to hospital appointments, household items and other things that are causing them a lot of worry.

Mon, July 4 2022, 11:53 AM : @Steakbaked99@tushypat Some food projects work with fareshare to provide more variety (we do for a long term support project, which sometimes provides extras for our foodbank) &others work with local businesses to provide a wider selection of foods. Tinned&dried food is easier to store and manage though
Mon, July 4 2022, 11:47 AM : @voo7hees@tushypat I know that one piece of research done by Trussell Trust showed that around half of people using a foodbank worked at least part time. We don't normally ask if people are working so I don't have up to date information, but we know that people can be on similar incomes either way.
