In our 60th year, we would like to ask our wonderful alumnae to support an incredibly important campaign to create a dedicated sixth form centre that matches our girls’ ambitions and sets them up for future success. We have a school wide target of £1 million and to date, we have secured £555k. We are asking our alumnae to use this page, spread the word and help us raise an additional £60k which we will add to that total. Can you help us do that?
When you were a Becky High sixth former you may have spent time in the terrapin hut that was designated a sixth form space or you might have spent breaks and lunchtimes in the common room within the Taylor Centre, a sixth form only building. However, these spaces are long gone and whilst our students have two dedicated study spaces, they are not big enough and they are spread throughout the school rather than being in one place, where they can have a sense of sixth form common community. The lack of space means they spill over into the cafeteria; however, this is a shared space with the rest of the school and they must pack up at break and lunch. Not ideal!
The benefits of a sixth form centre at Becky High will be experienced in the lower years too as it will:
- Free up space across the rest of the school
- Provide greater flexibility in how the whole school campus is used for learning and enrichment.
- Reduce over-crowding in the main cafeteria as the sixth form centre will have its own food outlet.
So, please support our 60 in 60 Alumnae Campaign and in doing so give back to the school that helped make you the women you are today.
