Northampton & Lamport Railway has long held ambitions to erect permanent station buildings at our main station, Pitsford & Brampton.
Unfortunately, the original buildings were demolished by British Railways in the 1960s, prior to the line closing in 1981. Ever since preservation began in 1984, we have had to make do with an assortment of portacabins and containers, several of which are now at the end of their useful life and urgently need replacing.
Now, following the receipt of a substantial legacy, the Railway is focused on achieving the dream of proper permanent customer facilities and greatly improving the ambience of Pitsford & Brampton Station. With your support, we can definitely make it happen.
The project aim is for a building to replace the existing customer toilets, with the addition of a Waiting Room/function room and Porter's Room, located mid-way down the platform.
Plans have already been drafted and an illustration of how the building will look is below.
Grants will also be explored, but we will need matchfunding and so are looking to fundraise for this upfront.
We have therefore set a FUNDRAISING TARGET of £25,000, which would equate to approximately 10% of the build cost.
This exciting project is vital to the future prosperity of the Railway as a sustainable heritage attraction.
Any support you can offer will make a huge difference and be very gratefully received.
