The Gilsland Community Benefit Society Limited (GCBSL) has been formed to raise the funds required to buy and reopen The Samson Inn as a community pub for the village

We intend to raise the money by applying to the Community Ownership Fund and by raising money from the community through shares and donations

This initial fundraiser is to raise donations to specifically help with raising awareness of the SOS campaign (Save Our Samson Inn) and support the costs associated with the purchase process and the grant application

When the community came together in October 2022, we recognised that we would need a legal structure to operate. We joined the Plunkett Foundation and took their advice on the most appropriate legal model for a community group planning to purchase and operate a pub, as our first project, but with an ability to take on further community projects in the future.
