New Leaf Derbyshire's mission is to improve mental health, wellbeing, self-esteem, confidence, and social inclusion of disadvantaged and struggling families in Derby and Derbyshire by: -
1. Carrying out simple home improvements to help create and maintain a safe, healthy, and ‘homely’ living environment. This includes: -
- Fitting shelves, storage systems, etc, in order to keep the home tidy.
- Sourcing and supplying items of furniture (tables, chairs, wardrobes, cupboards, shelf units etc)
- Painting & decorating
- General tidying and cleaning
- Removing and disposing of unwanted items
- Simple gardening tasks
2. Providing befriending services to ensure that our beneficiaries are not isolated and are in reasonable health.
3. Signposting and assisting our beneficiaries to access specialist support for the issues and barriers they are facing.
4. Providing information, advice & guidance and helping our beneficiaries to access the services available to them within the community.
Following the successful launch, setup, and delivery of a pilot project, our ambition is to take New Leaf Derbyshire to the next stage of development, by achieving full Registered Charity status and recruiting and training up to 10 additional volunteers. This will enable us to help over 30 disadvantaged families per year. However, to achieve this, we need to raise funds to cover the cost of recruitment, training, volunteer expenses, tools, materials, furniture, storage and equipment.
