Fundraiser - Liz's Spinnaker Tower Abseil

Story

On Sunday 19th April Liz Fricker is abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth to raise funds to complete the mid-life refit of our sail training yacht Thermopylae Clipper. In the middle of the refit a crack was discovered at the top of the mast and this has required us to have a brand new mast made for us at great cost. Please give what you can to enable the Discovery Sailing Project to deliver character building sail training voyages for the next generation of Scouts.

Liz is a Scout Group Lead Volunteer in London had has had experience of bringing her Group to sail with Project. She has seen what sail training can do, giving young people adventures, challenging them and teaching new skills. She is doing this abseil to ensure the Project can continue to provide fantastic experiences for years to come. #SkillsForLife

The Discovery Sailing Project delivers offshore sailing experiences for young people. We give Scouts, and other youth organisations the opportunity to develop through sail training. We are part of the Scouts, forming the offshore Sailing section of the Dockland Scout Project and are guided by the Scouts' values and method.

The Project is a registered charity (No. 267884) and was established in 1971. It is a member of ASTO and is inspected by the RYA as a recognised training centre.
