Story

🚴‍♂️ The Grand Fire Ride: Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Station Challenge 🚒

In September 2026, we'll be embarking on an epic five-day cycling journey covering over 760km, visiting every fire station, workshops and training centres across Dorset and Wiltshire. As Dorset and Wiltshire staff we will be taking on this challenge to raise vital funds for two incredible charities: The Grand Appeal, supporting Bristol Children’s Hospital, and The Fire Fighters Charity, which provides life-changing support to fire service personnel and their families.

This ride is dedicated to Aldo, a brave five-year-old boy currently undergoing treatment for brain cancer at Bristol Children’s Hospital. Aldo’s courage and resilience inspire us all, and through this fundraiser, we aim to support the care he receives and the wider community of children and families facing similar battles.

The Route:

• 🚒 Starting at Lyme Regis Fire Station

• 🗺️ Visiting every fire station in Dorset & Wiltshire

• 🏁 Finishing at Bristol Hospital

• 🕐 5 days of cycling

• 📏 Over 760km of road

Why These Charities?

• The Grand Appeal funds pioneering medical equipment, family accommodation, and support services at Bristol Children’s Hospital.

• The Fire Fighters Charity helps serving and retired fire service personnel with physical rehabilitation, mental health support, and community wellbeing.

Every penny raised will be split between these two charities, helping both children like Aldo, his family and the fire service family.

The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist, lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives.
