Seasons greetings, we’d love to share our festive raffle this December to help raise money for the Wave Project North East so the charity can continue to support the mental and physical wellbeing of children and young people in our area!
Since our pilot in 2020 we have supported over 250 young surfers through our life changing Surf Therapy programs here in Tynemouth, many who have continued to engage in our Surf Club and become young volunteers themselves. All donations received have a chance to be match funded thanks to the generosity of a private donor, meaning we can reach even more young people next year!
The cost-of-living crisis has hit everyone hard especially in the North East where there is high demand for services to support mental health. We have an amazing surf community that comes together through thick and thin and this is our chance to make a real difference.
A parent of a child who recently joined one of our Surf Therapy Programmes said:
“The Wave Project has given our daughter a new passion, time outdoors and being active. The volunteers are so kind and were brilliant at making her feel safe and supported. We are very grateful she was given this opportunity which has made a real impact!"
The volunteers at The Wave Project are such amazing role models to our young surfers and really help to show what benefits a strong community can bring to a young person's life. Already we’ve had some amazing prizes donated to help support the course and I’d like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who continues to believe in the work we do!
