We are often approached by people who have found themselves in difficult situations and are no longer able to care for their animals as they would wish.
We would far rather this happens, than finding people who have continued to struggle on alone and their horses suffer as a result.
Sophie’s rehabilitation has taken a very long time.
Thankfully, Sophie turned a corner and joined our ‘Loanie Pony’ Scheme for a while, with lovely people living at the foot of the Cleveland Hills. However, in 2025 we decided that, at 22 years old, it was time for retirement and she returned to us.
We are very happy to report that we were approached by some lovely people keen to find a companion for their horse Merlin and we decided to try Sophie as a match.
The love affair was almost instantaneous and despite developing occasional issues with Equine Asthma, Sophie’s new family all adore her and we’re sure she has found her forever home.
Sponsoring ponies like Sophie, means we will be able to continue to offer assistance when needed. It really is the difference between us being able to say ‘yes we can help’ or ‘sorry, we can’t take any more into our care at this time’.
