Fundraiser - Scott's ride for Friends Of Mufulira

Story

Next month, I’ll be taking on Chase the Sun South — a gruelling 205-mile (300km+) cycle ride from sunrise to sunset across the UK. It will undoubtedly be one of the toughest physical challenges I’ve attempted, but it’s nothing compared to the daily challenges faced by the communities supported by Friends of Mufulira.

This charity resonates with me on many levels. As a South African working in the mining and metals industry, the connection feels especially meaningful. Friends of Mufulira (FOM), founded by the Minor Metals Trade Association (MMTA), focuses on improving healthcare and support services in Mufulira — a mining town in Zambia.

The ride will test endurance, resilience, and determination — but every mile is being ridden to raise awareness and support for the incredible work being done on the ground.

Friends of Mufulira

Friends of Mufulira supports local hospitals in Mufulira, Zambia through its medical elective programme with Liverpool University. FOM sends NHS trainee doctors on their electives to support at two Mufulira Hospitals, Ronald Ross General Hospital (RRGH) and Kamuchanga District Hospital.
Friends of Mufulira (FOM) also fundraisers to buy much needed medical equipment for hospitals in Mufulira.
