Stop Transphobic and Unnecessary Changes to our Terms and Conditions:

Departments are planning harmful policy changes that will mean:

• Trans colleagues will no longer be able to use single-sex facilities designated to their affirmed gender
• 13 weeks paid special leave for gender reassignment will be removed
• Increased risk of harassment of trans and gender non-conforming colleagues.

We believe that:

• Any restrictions on trans colleagues using the bathroom of their affirmed gender is regressive and must be opposed
• Policing of gender spaces will lead to abuse of both trans and gender non-conforming members of staff
• The removal of the 13 weeks paid special leave is a breach of the gender reassignment section of the Equality Act
• Trans members of staff should not have to tolerate intentional deadnaming or misgendering, and nobody should discuss or enquire about another person’s sex without their express permission
• Every member deserves safe, dignified and equitable access to toilet and changing facilities at all workplaces

What can we do?

• Defence the universal facilities we have in Croydon
• Do not be part of policing the new policy by challenging people on the use of facilities they use
• Email your local MP - here is the link (tailor it to the Cabinet Office policy and removal of the EHRC, alongside demanding a review of the Equality Act 2010 to better defend trans people)

The UK’s first LGBTIQ+ Community Shelter and Centre. A grassroots movement led by LGBTIQ+ ex-homeless, homelessness professionals and activists.

In winter 2017 we opened the UK’s first LGBTIQ+ Shelter. In Spring 2019 we opened our Community Centre in Central London, just a stones throw from the Lesbian and Gay Centre of the 80’s. Over 7000sqft of open, office and residential space, this unique and innovative project is home to our shelter and the support, creative and activist groups we work alongside.

During the 50th anniversary year of the Stonewall Riots it is fitting to flip the narrative, centring our homeless siblings and those who feel left outside of mainstream and LGBTIQ+ spaces. The centre and shelter has made an immeasurable difference to our guests who will always be loudly and proudly at the centre of this project. We’re grateful for the support from the Mayor of London and our LGBTIQ+ community and allies across the country. We can’t thank you enough for standing beside us.
