Story

Help us buy an accessible, adult tricycle for use on the new, adjacent Greenway (not everyone can use a normal bicycle)!

In March the Countryways team are striving to get more mobile and raise money to buy a semi-recumbent trike so more of our Farm Helpers, who cannot use a bicycle, can experience cycling and enjoy the new Misbourne Greenway on our doorstep.

Emily and Duncan will be tracking the mileage of their teams daily as they work across the farm, checking and caring for the animals, doing the farmland birdseed feeders, coppicing, brash cutting and more.

Duncan and a few of the Farm Helpers are also committing to extra walking and cycling in their own time.

Our goal is to collectively cover over 100 miles in the month. With the mix of health, mobility and coordination challenges across our team, that is no mean feat and a real undertaking.

We have two targets in mind:

  • £2000 could buy us a very good pedal only bike, the Tomcat Dragon. A great asset for a lot of our younger Farm Helpers and visitors.
  • £6000+ could allow us to also purchase a larger, power assisted trike opening up cycling the Greenway to our retired Countrymen, amongst many
    others.

These are not small amounts of money, but the impact if achieved will be considerable.

Mobility and Inclusion - Road Farm Countryways CIC

Here at Countryways CIC on Road Farm we are passionate about accessibility and inclusion!  From historic fundraising, we have amazing toilets with adult changing table and room-covering hoist, we have a manual Trekinetic wheelchair that people can borrow when here on this working farm.

Now we're fundraising again to help our farm helpers and others discover the joys of self-propelled cycling!  Movement can be magic, even small movements are so good for our health and wellbeing.  We're situated by a new cycleway called the Misbourne Greenway, and those with health and learning challenges are especially welcome here to feel more included in our Chilterns countryside.
