Hi I'm Andrew. After over a decade of failed attempts I've finally got a ballot place in the London marathon 2027. I'm a wholetime firefighter based at Ipswich East in Suffolk and on my days of I'm also a retained firefighter responding to a pager in my hometown of Felixstowe. I've chosen to raise money for two charities that are close to my heart: the Firefighters charity who help serving and retired injured Firefighters, control and support staff and their families by offering them therapy, both physical and mental, when needed. Many of my colleagues have benefitted from this invaluable service which runs entirely from donations from people like yourselves. As you can imagine they are being used more than ever with the increase in wildfires etc. in 2025 they saw a 25% increase in practical support provided, including financial assistance. The second charity I've chosen is the Zante strays rescue charity: While holidaying with my family on the island a few years ago we visited the shelter and saw first hand how they help care for and find new homes for these neglected dogs, many of which are abandoned as puppies and left to fend for themselves. We have since returned on several occasions with food and medication for these poorly pups and we've seen how desperately they rely on donations. It is run by volunteers who work tirelessly in the scorching sun and visitors who walk the dogs. They not only need money for food, medicine and vet visits but also so the dogs can be found new homes, mainly in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands. Every single penny raised for these two charities will be lifechanging and I would be so grateful for every donation received.
