Story

One night, One Big Walk on the 24th of October 2026. This is a test for both the body and mind, walking from London to Chatham overnight. The challenge will start from Westminster Cathedral, London walking approx 55k to Chatham to raise funds to support One Big Family.

Supporting

One Big Family - Helping the Homeless

One Big Family are now in their 11th year, a small but dedicated charity supporting homeless and vulnerably-housed people in Kent and Yorkshire.

We have a 17 bedroom supported accommodation project in Medway for single homeless people with multiple complex needs, offering person centred, trauma informed support to help address issues which may have contributed to/been caused by rough sleeping including - substance misuse, mental health, physical health, social isolation, budgeting etc

We provide food, drink, clothing, toiletries, advise and advocacy via regular homeless outreach and soup kitchens. The Medway soup kitchen sees over 100 people per week

In Medway we deliver food parcels and home starter packs thrice weekly to people facing financial hardship who are referred to us by external agencies such as social services, domestic abuse organisations and housing.

Most importantly we understand the importance of relationships – with clients we ensure they feel heard, valued and treated with dignity, and with other organisations we believe strong partnerships are what can turn good intentions into real outcomes.
