Not many people are inclined to consider running 81km for something to do on an average weekend! But then Andy White is no average person! After moving to the UK from Canada in 2014 to join the army, Andy served in the Parachute Regiment and completed a tour of Afghanistan.
Andy contacted Wellbeing in Action and explained "After leaving the military, I struggled to find meaning in the things I was doing in civilian life, but I was fortunate to have a lot of supportive people around me to aid me in my transition. I know how difficult it can be to live with mental health challenges and wanted to help ensure others have the support available to them, regardless of background or circumstances."
Every step of that 81k will cause agony for Andy's body, but for people in torment with their mind, each step will bring them a little closer to comfort and resilience and we couldn't be more grateful. But why not something a little easier? Apparently Andy likes a challenge and thrives by setting a goal that keeps him actively training and keeping fit. The Wellbeing in Action team are in awe and will be ready with the Deep Heat and loud cheers at the finish line on 19th March.
If you can support Andy's quest to complete his 81k challenge we'd be very grateful indeed. Thank you for supporting him and all the people affected by low mental health he will help.
