Story

Because every step can change a life.

As I turn 50 and prepare for my 8th full marathon (Tokyo, March 2026) and 9th full marathon (London, Apr 26), I’m not slowing down — I’m stepping it up.

From May 2025 to April 2026, I’ll be running 50 half marathons in 50 weeks, combining organised races with weekly local runs. This challenge kicks off with:

Birmingham Half Marathon – 4 May - Manchester Half Marathon – 18 May

I’ll be running most weeks, joining official events every month or so, and sharing progress on Strava and this page along the way. (as of Jan 26 I have done 30 half marathons !)

Why am I doing this?

Because turning 50 feels like the perfect moment to give back, especially when I still feel 30.

I’m running to raise funds for Sewa UK and Lepra UK — two incredible charities creating lasting change for some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.

Your support will help:

  • Children with disabilities and their families, providing vital therapy, education, skills development and emotional support
  • Dream Project – education for tribal girls in Rajasthan
  • Cochlear implants - for children, alongside speech therapy and training for mothers
  • Knowledge on Wheels – a mobile classroom bringing education to children in remote Indian villages
  • Medic4Sewa – delivering essential healthcare and life-changing surgeries in underserved communities in Chitrakoot, India

In March 2026, I’ll also be running the Tokyo Marathon in support of Lepra UK, helping to eradicate leprosy in India and support families to overcome stigma and rebuild their lives

Supporting

Lepra

Today, 475 people will be diagnosed with leprosy; 25 of those will be children. Over 3 million people across the globe are living with undiagnosed leprosy. Leprosy is not a disease of the past, it still exists and it is still destroying lives. Lepra is committed to meeting the needs of people affected by leprosy and ensuring that they are represented at local and government level. We will support people affected by leprosy through prevention, diagnosis, disability aids and mental health support. We will also continue our strong partnerships with regional and national governments to ensure that those affected have access to reconstructive surgery, multi-drug therapy, eye care and physiotherapy.

Sewa UK

Sewa UK is an established branch of the larger Sewa International movement that started in India in 1989. The organisation with its inherent universal inclusive values and ethos is focused on serving humanity at large irrespective of race, colour, religion, gender, or nationality.

Sewa UK specialises in supporting disaster relief and rehabilitation, tribal and refugee welfare, women empowerment, education for children, and quality healthcare. It is involved in humanitarian work not just in the UK but also in India, Kenya, and around the world.
