Talk at 2pm by Kirstie Mitchell, Curator York Minster
York Minster’s Collection and Interpretation team care for a vast and varied collection: from manuscripts to silver, archaeology to playbills, stained glass to photos, textiles to worked stone. As well as York Minster’s collection, the team care for numerous parish libraries and silver. In this talk the Curator, Kirstie Mitchell, will share some of the highlights of the parish collections, currently on display in the Undercroft Museum. These objects are proudly local but tell national and global stories. Items have journeyed here in different ways. Some have survived religious turmoil, fire or war and offer fascinating glimpses into Yorkshire life, the history of York Minster and the ways in which collections are formed.
The illustrated talk will be followed by afternoon tea.
