This is my first time doing a half marathon. It's in a city I love (though the half marathon is a tough one with a long climb) raising the remaining money needed to send a talented young woman through university in Malawi.

Rare Charity (where I work) provides fully funded scholarships to young people in Malawi and Nepal, who lack the resources to access their university or secondary education. In 2026 there are four excellent applications we want to support. We are so close to raising the funds for the first, and I've decided to take the half marathon plunge to try and get us over the line.

As a tiny charity, every contribution can make a big difference. I also get to personally make sure it goes where it's intended, funding another young woman through her university education.

P.S. The t-shirt in the photo is from Zomba TREEZ, a great environmental charity working in Malawi, which I've been happy to support too.

At least 50% of our university scholarships and 100% of our secondary scholarships are reserved for young women and girls.
