What We Are Doing
We are raising vital funds to ensure we can continue offering free, high-quality bereavement support to residents of Wandsworth. Wandsworth Bereavement Service has been supporting people across the borough for nearly 30 years, providing compassionate, specialist help to those coping with the death of a family member, friend, or loved one. Through 1:1 counselling, we create a safe space where people of all ages can talk, process their loss, and begin to heal.
Why We Are Doing It
Bereavement can be overwhelming, and many people experience intense emotional distress. Each year, we support around 450 individuals, including both children and adults. Nearly 150 of them (32%) report experiencing suicidal thoughts as a result of their loss. Access to counselling can be life-changing—sometimes even life-saving.
The impact of our work speaks for itself. In FY24/25:
• 95% found counselling helpful
• 75% visited their GP less often
• 77% felt more able to return to work
• 89% reported feeling happier and more at ease
• 97% would recommend WBS to someone else
Your support helps ensure no one in Wandsworth has to face grief alone.
When It’s Happening
Our fundraising auction is live now and will run until 12th December. All proceeds go directly toward providing bereavement counselling for children, young people, and adults across Wandsworth.
